Lacuna Fund in Agriculture – Award
Lacuna Fund is the world’s first collaborative effort to provide data scientists, researchers, and social entrepreneurs in low-and middle-income contexts globally with the resources they need to produce labeled datasets that address urgent problems in their communities. The aim is to supports the creation, expansion, and maintenance of equitably labeled datasets that enable the robust application of machine learning tools of high social value in low- and middle-income contexts globally.

Timely Success and Sustainable Early Prosperity
In August 2020, I finished my PhD studies in Information and Communication Sciences and Engineering at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology with the research title “Data Driven Approach for Predicting Student Dropout in Secondary Schools”. Many people have walked with me in this adventure and they surely deserve my greatest gratitude.
Sensitization Event at Kilakala Secondary School
In August 2020, I attended a sensitization event at Kilakala Secondary School in Morogoro organized by the alumnae with the aim of inspiring young girls to discover their purpose in life, growing up with confidence and pursuing their dreams.
NeurIPS Conference in Vancouver, Canada
In December 2019, I had an opportunity to attend the 33rd annual conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS) in Vancouver, Canada. The conference brought together researchers and experts in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) from around the world to present and showcase their work through posters, panel discussion and presentations. I also had a privilege to participate in the Black in AI (BAI) workshop which aims at increasing the presence and participation of black people in the field of AI. This time around, I did an oral presentation on “An Ensemble Predictive Model Based Prototype for Student Drop-out in Secondary Schools”.
